WinGate 5.2.0 Questions

Using WinGate 5.2.0 (Trial)

I've been trying WinGate for some time now, and version 5.2 finally seems to have fixed my Undefined ENS Memory error problem.

1. Is there an option to cache files to a different drive? (If there isn't, there really should be...)

2. Is there a way to gauge cache effectiveness? (If there isn't, there really should be...)

3. How do I force an immediate Kaspersky Anti-Virus database update?

4. Can WinGate be configured to query a WINS server to get NETBIOS names on the LAN?

5. Are other, more sophisticated content filtering options available, other than PureSight?

Thanks in advance...

3. Click Plugins - Highlight KAV - Click update.

5. Not yet.

Craig,

#1. Create new folder on drive you want to put cache. Then, with usual registry precautions, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Qbik Software\WinGate\Cache and edit CacheDirectory key to new drive and path. Stop and restart WG engine and new cache directory will be used.

I did click update, but it appeared as if nothing happened. (At least not right away.) I checked about 2 hours later, and KAV had indeed updated. I was just looking for some sort of indication that the update was being downloaded... (And that wasn't there...)

Thanks...

Chris,

Thanks. That worked. Not the most user friendly method, but it did work...

(Feature request. Allow the location of the cache directory to be changed WITHOUT having to edit the registry.)
