VPN and Kaspersky anti-virus

Postby han » Jan 30 07 8:24 am

Hi there,

I've just moved Wingate VPN to a new Sony laptop. Prior to installing it I had installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 on the laptop. Everything was working fine. After installing Wingate VPN I had no internet access. By removing mail anti-virus and web anti-virus everything started working agian. In the mean time this leaves me somwhat unprotected I feel. Is there any reason why these two don't go together or do I need to obtain KAV for VPN?

Regards,

Han.

Hi Han,

Actually we've had someone else who had problems running Kaspersky and WinGate/WinGate VPN on the same machine and we're still trying to work through these issues.

The KAV plug-in for WinGate won't really help you, it's designed to scan http, ftp and email traffic but it won't scan the VPN.

I can't recommend running without anti-virus even though you've got the firewall from the VPN. Hmm, sorry, I'm not sure what the solution to this problem is for you.

Regards,

Matt
