a VPN connection to Debian Linux. How to?

Postby bigkush » Feb 26 07 2:28 am

We have two remote offices connected via WinGate VPN to the main office (gateway licenses). We also have several standalone remote users that are connected through VPN (using WinGate single user licenses).
Now we have a new remote office where firewall and proxy are organized under Linux Debian 3.1; and behind that firewall they have a MS Windows network.
Can you suggest to us some sort of solution how we could organize a VPN connection to this new remote office whether it will be Gateway type (the entire network is seen) or at least so that one single Windows computer would be accessible.

So you have a VPN Host in your main office, and you would like to have one more computer / network connected in. You will need to install WinGateVPN onto a Windows Computer that has a NAT connection method available; and since it will be a VPN Joiner then you should not need to open any holes in your firewall.

Whether you need to access the one computer only, or the local network is your decision.

To have the Local Network participating in the VPN you will need to have either one of the following setup:

1. Have the VPN Participants default gateways set to the local WinGate VPN computer.
2. Have the VPN Participants use the Qbik RIP2 Utility (not on the actual WinGate computer).

3. Turn on RIP2 on the VPN Participants default gateway (debian box?).
