error 403 when trying to view logs

Postby nuanda » Apr 18 07 5:29 am

When I try to view the logs from a web browser I can get to the page where I select service logs, but then I get a not authorized to view this page message with error 403.

....I just noticed that wingate isn't writing logs to the logfile location. What NTFS permissions are required by wingate to write logs?

With regards to the 403 error, that is Access Denied. Usually by policy, but it could also be because the license count has been exceeded. I'd not expect any policies on your Logfile Server though, so do you have any policies setup in System Policies that might be restricting access?

As to the NTFS permissions it would be standard write access, granted to the account the service is logging in with. That should normally be okay, unless you've restricted it's access. However, also check that the services actually have logging enabled.

Thanks Pascal

I fixed the logging problem. For some reason I was missing the LogFileDirectory key in my registry. Now loggin has started again.

I still can't access the logs from the browser on a domain member.

This link - http://stormy:8010/
gets me to a page that has 4 links including "Service Logs". Clicking on that link takes me to http://stormy:8010/logs which has one suspiciously redundant link labelled Logs. that link takes me to http://stormy:8010/logs/logs where I get the error.

does that web address seem right?

Thanks

Ah, I see what you mean. That looks like either a bug or a misconfiguration of default settings at the moment. Let me investigate a bit more and I'll get back to you.

Ok, just checked with Adrien. This is a known issue at the moment, and is a bug.

Temporarily, you can work around this bug by adding a backslash to the end of the URL after clicking on a link. You only need to add the backslash for folders. Once you are in the correct folder, files will display correctly by simply clicking on them.

http://localhost:8010/logs
becomes
http://localhost:8010/logs/
