X Scanning: ??

Postby Nev » Dec 17 03 1:56 am

Hi all,

Doing it again, randomly a Win2k system will throw up all sort's of error messages, POP3 is hit and miss, web pages open as text and the main feature is Netscape reports: X Scanning: 405 in the top LHS [or some other variable number].

What is going on here, looks OK when rebooted.

Wingate 5.2 and 1.2 A/v plugin with new key subscription.

Here's a sample:

X-Scanning: 511
HTTP/1.0 200 OK
Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0
Date: Tue, 16 Dec 2003 13:03:37 GMT
Content-type: text/html
X-Powered-By: PHP/4.3.3

Thanks...

Nev.

Is this 5.2.2 ? The latest release does fix some issues with POP3.

We had some issues with very small emails when using scanning over a slower link (i.e. when nagling would be used by the server and the +OK response would be nagled to the entire email message in one TCP packet).

We fixed this in 5.2.2

However, the X-Scanning header in an HTTP request is very disturbing!

That is specifically restricted to POP3 sessions only, for HTTP the drip-feeding uses an entirely different function to drip-feed portions of the file.

You may be able to get around this by disabling drip-feeding for HTTP.

Hi all at Qbik!

It was 5.2.0 but now is 5.2.2 and although sporadic, hasn't happened again, will advise if it goes AWOL again!

Thank you.

Season's to all here...

sporadic?

Do you mean the engine is flaky or something?

Hi Adrien,

No the problem was sporadic in 5.2.0, it has not been apparent now since moving to 5.2.2.
