Problems with Gateway (2 Modens)

Postby Picoviski » Mar 08 08 9:57 am

Hello,

I have here 3 NIC's (1 local and 2 with cablemodem), I already configured WinGate with all the information using WWW or SOCK services and its working, but i dont know why every 2min one of the NIC's lost the gateway in the same sequency (even the local adapter).

Important:

1) I'm using Wingate 6.2

2) I'm using Win2003 SP2 R2, but the same problem happen with WinXP SP2

3) I follow this tutorial forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?t=25968 and others that i found but with both happen the gateway issue.

4) Each NIC have different gateway as requested in the topic

Final Question:

I dont know what i can do to solve this problem, anyone have any idea?

Thanks for the help,
Pico

Hi, let the forum know if you have 'Monitor for dead gateways' enabled or not.

This is located in the ENS // Extended Networking Service properties.

Sorry not really, is the one that is failing being reset by the ISP's DHCP lease perhaps?

Can you set it to a static IP address?

Could there be a hardware fault perhaps?

My Cable company just have DHCP :( so probably i cant use static IP... or will just work sometime, and than will stop working probably.

About hardware issues, for sure its not that the problem, because it's online for 1 week now using the same NIC's but without wingate and its ok.

Really strange... :(

So both these NIC's are marked as 'External' in Gatekeeper's network tab?

Yes from what i remeber both marked as external, but not even the external NIC's lost the gateway.

For example i have one NIC with internal IP, static IP and that one the problem happend too... really strange :(

Hi, ok, the 'internal' NIC should not have a gateway set for the Wingate Server.

Just give it a static IP and Sub Net Mask to avoid a DNS loop problem.
