license server events

Postby ngrayson » May 31 08 12:59 am

Guys,

Two requests.

1) having just discovered my Kaspersky plugin had the license key issue (and has had for two weeks so I have not been protected), can we in future release have the product associate a "keeper(s)" with an email address(s) so that license events which render a plugin inoperative are notified immediatly. In most installations, most people dont monitor daily so this would be usefull. Further, something like a 1 month prior notification of expiration emailed to the keeper(s) list.

2) Can we please have Wingate 2007 (8). Last year I renewed my upgrade license to allow me to have wingate 2007. I do hope that it arrives before it requires renewal again are or you intending to honour upgrade contracts. Last I saw May 2008 was the release day, accepted that May is not yet over but looks like its slipped again.

Cheers
Neil

WinGate 2008 has a brand new notification plans feature that helps WinGate get the attention of a human being and keep that attention until a problem is resolved. I'm sure it would not take much effort to hook this up to the license manager to warn of abnormal license states, however we will have to wait until the beta is released to find out.

We will be honouring version protection policy renewals that were made in anticipation of WinGate 2007 early last year, so I hope you don't feel it was money wasted. WinGate 7.x has taken a much longer time to get together than we originally anticipated because a huge change of direction towards the componentisation of WinGate end of last year. Many aspects of WinGate 2008 have been changed in a major way, and we hope for the better.

About release dates, it sounds like we will be releasing a technology preview this month to show exactly how WinGate 2008 is shaping up and what can be expected of the beta and the final release. Don't quote me on that date though :).

Thanks for the comment. I will pass it onto our web developer for you.
