Hi all!
I have just installed the trial version of WinGate 6.2.2. I suppose I have missed something because I can't get the DHCP and the DNS services to work.
WinGate Server is installed with the default configuration on a desktop PC running Windows XP Pro SP2. It is connected to an ADSL modem/router using a wi-fi card (this wireless interface is set as an external network in WinGate). The LAN interface is configured accordingly to the installation guide: IP 192.168.0.1, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0, no Gateway, no DNS Server, set as an internal network in WinGate. I can access the internet without any problem from this PC.
The client is a laptop PC running Windows XP Home SP3. It is directly connected to the server with a crossover ethernet cable.
1) When I select "Obtain IP address automatically" on the TCP/IP properties of the client's LAN adapter, no IP address is assigned.
2) So I set manually these TCP/IP properties as follow: IP 192.168.0.123, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.1, DNS server 192.168.0.1. Now I can ping the server from the client and vice versa, but there is no DNS resolving: I can't open "http://www.google.com" in my browser. If I type Google's IP address ("http://74.125.39.147") instead of the domain name, it works!
I really don't know how to fix that. Thank you in advance for your help!
(Btw I apologize for any mistake, english is not my primary language.)
