I have wingate running actually on a P IV with windows 98. I have to move it to a HP proliant server running windows 2003 server. If i make a .reg backup and then load it on the new server, will work fine?

Hi

One thing to remember is a reg import gives you a merge between what exists in the registry, and what you import.

So steps we recommend are, once you have your registry exported, on the target machine

1. install WinGate, including reboot if required
2. stop wingate service
3. Delete the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Qbik Software\WinGate
4. Import your reg file from the source machine
5. Start WinGate

That makes sure you don't have artefacts hanging around from the new install once you have merged.

Regards
