Compatable Network Bandwidth Monitors

Postby rkellyatspamcopnet » Dec 07 08 6:05 pm

Has anyone experience with a network bandwidth monitor compatable with Wingate? I've tried two so far - Bandwidth Monitor Pro and NetMeter. Neither picks up the full traffic on the NIC cards.

Issue: My ISP has instituted a monthly "cap" on bandwidth consumption. They do not provide a method to determine what I've used to date. They will terminate service if I exceed the cap.

Environment: Windows XP SP2, Wingate 6.2.1, Pentium III processor, 512MB ram

Actions: I've installed each of the tested monitors on the firewall PC. They report nominal traffic even as a binary newsgroup download is in progress at over 2M bits/sec. Same result after rebooting.

Next steps: Looking for tested solutions before I begin exercises such as uninstalling Wingate and my packet sniffer (Comview), then reinstalling them >after< installing a monitor for testing.

Thanks!

We use Netmeter and although I have never checked it appears to give sensible download readings. (I only monitor the internet connections nic and not the land nic)
