Unable to get wingate to work.

Postby chinoy » Jan 08 09 4:42 am

Ok a lot of customers are asking for this particular setup in their offices so Im trying to simulate it on my laptop. And not having much luck.
Here is the setup Im testing on.

a. Internet Connection thru Hatway Cable Modem. 512 Kbps. Cable moden hooks up to the laptop thru a Marvell Lan card. The lan card is assigned a IP address by the ISP which goes 125.99.242.x even thogh this is a DHCP assigned address it normally stays the same. Maybe its tied into the mac address of the modem.

b. The Laptop is a Dell M1530 with a LAN and WiFi card from Intell. The Wifi card has been assigned a static IP address of 192.168.0.1

c. The Iphone is a 2nd gen Cracked unit. WiFi Using DHCP or we can configure it as static.

The plan is to share the Lan conection on the laptop with the iphone thru WiFi
I tried Internet Conection Sharing and it works sometimes and doesnt most. So we thought we would consider even buying wingate if it worked but even wingate isnt working.
Can somebody help set this up.

So far I can get wingate to assign me a DHCP address off 192.168.0.2 but beyond that it wont work. It connects and then drops the connection.
On very rare occasions it actually works like it should.

I'm finding it difficult to determine what might be going wrong based on the information available, so could you start a support ticket at the help desk and include the following information please. We will be able to provide you with the level of assistance you need there.

Ok I spent the day working on it and got wingate to work.
My problem now is that it works for exactlly 3-5 seconds and then the laptop wifi drops the conection. The phone still thinks its connected and shows the wifi logo but then it fails.

This is the same issue I was having with Internet conection sharing.
Logs dont show anything.
Have tried with Intell drivers from 9.0 to the latest 12.x have tried b and g on all channels.

To get Wingate to work you need to wait till the wifi establishes a conection and at that exact moment you have like 3 seconds. You should bind your service to wifi with the IP showing.
No other configuration worked.
Lan to internet is external card. Wifi is internal. Wifi should have a static IP of 192.168.0.1 and iphone can use DHCP.
