ftp problem

Postby noelwelpton » Jun 19 09 12:05 am

Hello

I am having occasional ftp problems. Using windows ftp (dos) to transfer batch of files. Most go through ok but occasionally some don't. Am using ftp log to see what is happening, but results (debug mode logging) don't mean a lot to me at the moment. Usually successes are indicated by 'Terminated exit code 0 or code 1, failures by code 2, records indicate a timeout, can't tell which end. Is there some documentation available to explain the log format and codes, please.

Below section of file (first bad, second good.

Regards

Firstly, what version of WinGate are you currently using? If it's not the latest version (6.6.1), then I recommend upgrading to ensure that the problem you are experiencing hasn't already been fixed.

If after upgrading the problem continues to occur, some packet capture would explain what's happening. Could you get a packet capture of this problem happening on your external interface facing the internet, and your internal interface facing the client. We will be able to compare these captures to see what data we are getting from the remote FTP server, and what data we are proxying to the client.

As packet captures are a tad big for the forum, can you send them to support@qbik.com, thanks.

Hello

I have updated wingate to current over weekend, will have to see what happens this week.
For reference, does Wingate have a packet capture facility (I wasn't aware of it) else what should I use?

Thanks for the help.

Wireshark ( www.wireshark.org ) is a good + free packet capture tool that the fine folks at Qbik have suggested in the past.
