Secondary Proxy Server

Postby DonovanK » Apr 13 10 9:07 pm

Hi Guys

We have a Linux server that controls the internet. I have set up another PC with Wingate on it.

Now i have moved my internet connection settings to direct to the WWW proxy on port 80 within IE.
I create a BAN List containing for eg www.google.co.za as banned.
I set a policy for everyone and set Default rights to "ignored" and user must be assumed.

The websites i insert into the BAN list are still available.

Could someone tell me what im doing wrong?

Hi

sorry to take so long to respond, just noticed this post.

My first instinct would be to check that the traffic really is going through the proxy. If you've only got one policy in there which bans some sites, and those sites are available, that indicates the traffic isn't going through the proxy, or there's some other problem with the policy itself.

It should show up in the GateKeeper activity window with the URL being requested. Is this happening? If you turn off the WWW proxy, does that break browsing?

Regards

Adrien
