DNS issues

Postby joras » Jan 14 04 6:34 pm

Hi All,

Some of our clients are getting the server cannot be found dns error when browsing well known internet pages, and upon clicking the reload button view the correct page.
I have noticed in the dns resolver log the following errors
Error: no information for response [57401] (server 139.130.4.4)

Any ideas on what this message means and whether it is contributing to the problems my clients are experiencing.

Regards

Andrew

Does this sound like one of my problems, in this thread?

DNS and disconnects remain issues

The DNS issue described in your post looks very similar to the problem I am experiencing.
Did you manage to resolve this issue?

how many of these entries are you getting in your logs?

Sometimes it can indicate an error, but sometimes not. What it means is, that WinGate got an answer back from a DNS server, but for some reason there was no information about the request able to be found to match the response to the request and complete the request.

this can be for several reasons.

a) the request was already completed by a prior response
b) the request had already timed out and been removed (more likely).

Not yet. Pascal of Qbik was looking into it, but no answer yet.

The number of these entries in the log is not great, normally between 1% and 2% of the entries.
