Wingate slows down bootup

Postby ngrayson » Aug 15 11 2:41 am

Hi guys,

I realise that this question is machine specific but my wingate engine seems to now be taking a longer time to start (3 minutes). During this time, nothing else can be done on the machine so it slows down the boot process.

I suspect that its happened since I added a second network card. My M/B has a via ethernet controller (10/100) and I have added a Gbe card. I have reassigned the 10/100 controller from 192.168.0.X to an address of 192.168.1.X and the Gbe is now the main ethernet link to my switch on 192.168.0.X. The old interface is not used at all now and is squirting electons into free space.

Does wingate check interface status or there anything which wingate could be waiting for a timeout on?

Cheers

Hi

I'd disable that other card and see if it makes any difference. Various parts of the OS do all sorts of things with long timeouts on startup (which can be triggered by WinGate starting).
