Need to purchase additional license for 25 more users

Postby Alen » Oct 06 11 12:40 am

Hi all,

We have Wingate 6.x license for 25 concurrent users and now need to increase the number to 50.
Our seller is proposing to buy "a license for 25 concurrent users".

Is this another full license for 25 users?
Should we activate it together with our old one or instead of it?
Does a special "upgrade license" exist?

Hi

there is a 50 user license, and it should be cheaper to upgrade to it than purchasing another 25 users. Basically you trade in your old license on a new bigger one.

Adrien, how could it be?

But answer me, what upgrade means technically: are we going to add one more license for 25 users and the program will be able to understand the total number is 50 or we would replace\deactivate the old license and activate the new one?

upgrade means your license is replaced with another, so you deactivate the old 25 user one and activate the new 50 user one.

price per user decreases as license size increases, that's why it's cheaper to upgrade than aggregate, since the upgrade price is the difference in license price plus a small (I think $10) amount. You could probably upgrade your 25 user pro license to a 100 user pro license for the cost of another 25 user license.

Ok.

Let me describe our situation. For our HQ we have purchased and activated Wingate 6.x Ent. for 25 users almost 2 years ago. We also bought KAV and PS for Wingate for 25 users with 2 year subscription.
Now I want to upgrade my Wingate license to 50 users, plus buy new licenses for KAV and PS for 50 users as their lics are finished in November (or maybe it is cheaper to also upgrade plus pay for 2 year subscription).

For another office we bought exactly the same lics (but with 1 year subscription for KAV and PS) less than a year ago. The subscriptions end in December.

Now, how much would it cost to upgrade both offices to Wingate Ent for 50 users with KAV + PS for 50 users with 2 year subscription?
What is the best strategy for both cases? (they are quite similar)
Why the seller is saying we should also pay for Wingate lic prolongation in case of HQ (as I understand)?

Can we purchase all necessary lics directly from Qbic, I am not sure the seller understands everything correctly?

Hi

If you go to www.wingate.com, choose the renew option under WinGate on the front page, you can see all the upgrade scenarios and associated costs.

You may need to set up a login in our site to do that.

Unless you have good reason to avoid your local reseller, we would recommend you go with them. Otherwise we can sell directly to you. I'm sure they would be able to do an upgrade etc if required (rather than purchase additional licenses).

If your WinGate licenses were purchased on or after 1 Jan 2010, they are eligible for WinGate 7. To renew if expired is 40% of the list price of a new license. You'd only need to do this if you weren't eligible for WinGate 7. We're not likely to release a WinGate 8 within the next 1 year.
