Problem dialing on Windows 2000

Postby graywolf » Jan 21 04 4:53 am

I've had this problem for a while. Wingate will not dial out either manually or automatically. If the server has dialed out Wingate works fine. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Which version of WinGate are you running? We did have some dialer issues in earlier versions but 5.2.2 is dialing fine. When you open the dialer in WinGate are all of your settings correct?

I'm using version 5.2.2, downloaded yesterday. I've had the problem over a couple of months now on different versions of WinGate.

So far as I can see the settings are correct (I've been using the same ones for a couple of years).

Connection name: UTVInternet
My user name is: paul-denning
Password: 13 characters including letters,numbers and -

When I click dial from the dialer nothing happens. If I dial from Network and Dial-up Connections GateKeeper correctly reports "Connected". If I hit stop from the dialer the connection is dropped.

I have Windows updates turned on so W2000 is as up to date as it can be.

I'm using Norton AV 2003.

OK I may have solved my problem. The clue was in "Wingate dialup problems with bonded ISDN". I had a second modem selected in the case of failure of the first. Disabling the second modem has got WinGate dialing out again.
