How to Configure WinGate with Yahoo Messenger Web Cam ?

Hi all,

I am running WinGate 5.2.2 and able to browse Interner from all machines.

I am also able to Log in to Yahoo Messenger and also MSN Messenger.

Yahoo works on HTTP Proxy Setting on port 80 and MSN works fine with SOCKS5 on port 1080.

What problem I am facing is that None of the Client machine able to access Yahoo Messenger's Web Cam and also they can not see other Web Cam as well.

Error Message on the Yahoo Messenger says that you seem to be behing FireWall.

How do I remove this error and make each and every mahcine to allow use the Yahoo's Web Cam service.

Help on Yahoo's Web Siet Says to Enable Port 5100 on FireWall / Proxy, How do I do this ?

Hi,

To open port 5100:
Go to the Extended Networking menu on the System tab
choose the Port Security tab
select Connections from the internet and click add
enter port 5100 in the from and to boxes
make sure allow packet is checked and click ok
You should now see port 5100 as open in the port security tab

Thx for Quick Reply, I did what you have said.

It is still not working, I still get the same error, that you are behind Firewall and I am not able to see the Web Cam..

Kindly help in solving this error.

Hi,

I set it up here and it works really well. You may have to go to Webcam properties and change the connection type. I had it set to Firewall with no proxy and I changed it to no proxies and it works. Try this and let me know how it goes.

Still I am not getting connected.

I have tried all optios and also both SOCKS and HTTP Proxy... still not working....

I will tell u what Setup I have.

My Server Address is 10.12.40.170 and client machines are having IP 10.12.40.171 / 172....

Server is on Win 2000 and client machines are Win98.

I have installed WinGate on the server only.

I have not given any Gateways in Client Machines.

Which all services do I need to Run. Currently I have disabled DHCP, GDP, DNS, POP3 and SMTP Servers.

I have also Dispabled RTSP, Telnet, VDO Live and XDMA Proxy Service.

what do I do to over come the problem of Voice Chat and Video Chat ?

I'm running Wingate 4.2.0 and I can't run Audio and Video in Microsoft Messager.

How can I configure Wingate to allow the users to run audio and video in the MSN?

I don't think you'll be able to run Audio over messenger as we don't support voice over IP yet, although we are working on this at the moment.

Can you please try and add a default gateway to your clients and enter the internal IP address of the WinGate server as their DNS server address. This gives you a NAT connection. If you turn on TR in the WWW proxy then you'll go through that.

Please let me know how that goes.

Hi MattP,

I just tried the setting as suggested by you.

I think it seems to be working. In fact I was able to see the wem cam installed on sever in the client machien and also hear Voice the voice of the client machie on the Server Machine. More Testing would be done soon and will let u know the results.

is there any other workaround?

should i do a tcp mapping for port 5100, but i don't know the server address?

Now another problem whihc I am facing is that I am not able to a Voice Chat on the main Server.

From rest of the client machines I am able to do Voice chat... but in server I am only able to recive incoming Voice singnal...but I am not able to send the Voice siganls to other end..

Would you suggest some Solution for this ?

Hi Jaspal,

I think there's a spot in the Yahoo setup where you can specify whether or not you're behind a proxy firewall, you might have to play around with these settings to get it working.

We're surprised that you're able to get voice chat working at all actually as it requires the uPnP protocol which we don't support at this time. Have you tried proxying your server connection through WinGate?
