How to Configure Transparent Mode

Postby renzoiemma » Jun 06 14 3:20 am

Hi, i need to know how to configure in transparent mode. My structure is simple, internet, modem, server with proxy, router, wifi router. i use windows server 2008 in a proliant server with two network adapters, they are in bridge mode.

also, i need to know if i can give free way to one wifi router (without using credentials).

when i use in bridge mode the 2 network adapters are disabled. i can only use the bridge miniport. i don´t know if i must use as internal or external.

In Services, WWW Proxy Server properties, when i set service port in 80 gives me this error:

"WWW Proxy Server failed to start on 127.0.0.1 because port 80 is in use by unknown (PID:4)"
PID:4 is "System"

What is the best settings to make to the server, router and wingate?

PS: sorry for my bad english, i am from argentina

according to my experience , wingate has problem with this ip: 127.0.0.1
could you tell me where did you enter this ip and for what intent(purpose)?

I think if you want to some clients have filtration and some other don't:
you should have two dhcp servers for two group of clients and in these dhcp servers , you should set two different range of ip addresses

after that I don't know maybe you could define in wingate what range of ips have filtration and the other haven't.

ehmm...
I don't enter the ip. That is a default IP in the properties. I actually try to follow the configuration of the youtube videos.

I have this testing configuration:

"puente de red" = "Network bridge"
Screenshot extras to understand:

The IP 0.203 is the lan IP becose i can't disconect the internet for testing.

I was thinking that for the group that doesn't have filters.
(as behnam said)

Is very crazy idea of using my server this way?

maybe I don't quite understand how to set this part (WWW Proxy Server properties).

Hi,

WinGate doesn't support bridging mode on the adapter, can you unbridge them?

I note that your adapter is set to EXTERNAL in Control Panel::Network Connections, can you change that to INTERNAL please? You'll need to change the binding policy on your WWW proxy service to bind to any internal.

Are you running another web server on port 80? If you set the WinGate proxy to run on port 8080 then does it work for you?

You could use credential rules to apply a username to all connections from the group of users that you don't want to apply credentials to. Ideally you'd give them a different IP address range to make it easy to create user assumptions for a whole subnet. You could then apply normal credential rules to the connections from the other WAP.
