hi qbik team,

its me again :)

i would like to know if this is possible through wingate to allow chatting let say 2 hours a day, any time of the day.

scenario: the user or group is behind wingate and is allowed to chat w/in an 8 hour period, at no specific time but limited only for 2 hours.

i'm considering "Users: Seconds on line" in the advanced criterion, but i dunno how to go about it.

I use this one all the time. You are right on with the criteria. Set up time frame and use the advanced criteria - seconds on line less than 7200 and then user has up to 2 hours during the allowed time to do whatever. If you look under each user you have setup in GateKeeper you will see an accounting tab. This is where WG shows the admin. how much time and the amount of traffic the user has used. In order for this to work right you will need to set up a daily Event in GateKeeper scheduler that has the Action Reset user account so that each day the time starts at zero again. The only catch is this time is for all activities.
