Problems with download

May 13 04 7:42 pm

Hello,

we are using WinGate 5.2.3 with Extended Networking and an ADSL router. The clients are connecting with the Java client to WinGate to get access to the internet.

Problem:
A download of a file (HTML or FTP) is stopped. First the download is starting a usual. During download we can see, that the download is breaking (pause) and after a short time the download is canceled.
What can we do to solve this problem?

Thanks...
Steven

Hello
I am running 5.2.2 and getting the same problem. A large download gets to about 2/3 of the way and then it reports that it is complete. I was going to upgrade to 5.2.3 but it appears this is the same. Is there anyone out there with a fix to this?

See that quite regularly, never associated it as a proxy issue though, solution [in my case] is to use a download manager, hasn't happened since, eg: dowload Linux ISO etc etc.

Good luck
Nev.

Reason for the problem

Hello,

I know the reason for the problem: It is the integrated firewall! I have changes the firewall setings to "Low" and it works fine. If I change it to "Medium", "High" or "User" it doesn't work.

download issues

Hi,

i had downloads get to 75%, regardless of browser or os (Mozilla; IE. WinXP or OS/2). Then when get to 75% will sit there for a couple of seconds then finish very fast.

Files could be used normally and are not corrupt, so I am not really bothered about it...

Hi,

I have Wingate 5.2.2 running on Windows 2000 Server.

Often when I download an file from a client (Windows 2000), the download seems to work fine and finish correctly but the file is not completly downloaded.

If I try to download the same file from the server running Wingate, I can download it completly without problem.

The client are connecting the web using the Wingate proxy. ENS is not activated.

Thank's for your help.

Hi there

There was an issue in 5.2.2 reported with FTP through HTTP proxy when no scanning plugins installed.

There was a problem with some older versions of IE downloading from ftp sites, whereby they would only get 75% of a download.

This was fixed for 5.2.3 release. As Nev said in his earlier post straight FTP through a ftp application which downloads via the FTP proxy service in WinGate works well, it was just an issue with trying to use FTP through HTTP.

Erwin
