Wingate 5.0.5 was installed some time ago on our server and all the other computers have ever since been encountering the following problems:
- cannot upload data, via any FTP software, to distant servers,
- cannot install Lotus Notes (cannot connect to the distant server during installation),
- when surfing the Internet or accessing our extranet database, the browsers show a page previously accessed by someone else on the LAN network.
I am totally clueless with Wingate 5.0.5. Could you please advise?
Thanks much!

Well a couple of thoughts, read the 'good oil' from Larry here http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?t=1859 on history corruption and how to deal with it.
Upgrade to Version 5.2.3
Check / turn off the caching could be an issue for the incorrect page serverd?
Report back and someone will take it further.

Hi Nev,
I still cannot upload data via FTP softwares to distant servers,
and cannot install Lotus Notes (cannot connect to the distant server during installation). Would "bindings" have got anything to do with it?
Is version 5.2.3 a time-limited trial? is it free? would that fix the issues mentioned above?

Well yes, the gatewayIP address say 192.168.0.1 [on the server] should be bound to the service [as an interrnal or trusted adaptor] whilst external adaptors [say a dial up / xDSL modem] would not be bound and client machines should have a gateway set the same as the server, in this example 192.168.0.1 would be correct.

Yes the person who installed wingate bounded 192.168.0.1 to the service as trusted. Now, wingate wasn't installed on the other computers in the network, should it be?
I tried everything I could but still could not install Lotus Notes (cannot find the server during installation), so I temporarily disabled wingate and allowed the 'Internet Connection Sharing' in the advanced properties of the internet connection in windows. Then I could install Lotus Notes all right. The problem is that when I disable the 'Internet Connection Sharing' in windows ... Lotus Notes again cannot find the server, and the internet disconnects every other minute.
