Request Feature "Prefetching Site..."

Postby keeper30 » Jul 01 04 12:06 am

qbik team,

Pls incorporate the prefetching site feature...it will automatically updated all previous visited sites. So that page is ready to load in wingate's cache and speed up the loading time without waiting the page to load at all.

Postby apolizzano » Jul 19 04 8:55 pm

i want to join to the request of a prefetch function for the wingate. It's very useful to speed up navigation.

How often would the prefetch happen?

How much storage would this take?

This sounds like it would make the WinGate server a very busy system.

Another option is a pre-fetching application, which can make the requests through WinGate, to populate WinGate's cache.

there are several available I believe, even using wget.exe to crawl a site from a sceduled batch file will do it.

Anyone remember Interquick that used to work in conjunction with Wingate.
It was quite useful.

yah...this feature is very useful too...when a webpage is visited, it will prefetch or pre-download on site pages and images in order to improve ur internet access time. Its depend how depth prefetch is...only those important needed information. Maybe, only frontpage of the site (texts and images) and the other links may not be included so that wingate cache will be populated. So, there will be a good algorithms or configuration settings on this in order not to affect the performance of wingate.
