Install wingate with this configuration?

Postby guiem » Jul 23 04 11:27 pm

Hello,

we would like to know about the wingate solutions, to know if it's possible to integrate them in the following configuration:

1 general gateway (Now W2000 Server + ISA Server + FW + AV)
1 gateway POP3/SMTP (Now W2000 Pro + FW + AV)
1 domain controller (W2000 Server + ActiveDirectory with DNS service activated)
clients W2000 Pro

Is it possible to install Wingate as Gateway/Proxy/Firewall in the W2000 Pro server but without the necessity to deactivate the domain controller.

The solutions that Microsoft give are:
- install W2000 Server + ISA Server (a lot of resources cost)
- install W2000 Pro with shared

Finally, does Wingate allow any interconnection program between the e-mail external server and the Exchange server (like exchangepop3).

Thank you very much.

Hi

WinGate will run on a domain controller no problem, and can use the accounts of a domain controller as well for POP3 access etc.

So the answer to the first question is yes.

For the second one, I don't know about exchangepop3, but if it is an exchange pop3 client, then it should be able to access WinGate's POP3 server, however you may be better off configuring WinGate to forward mail to the exchange server (if that is what you want to use for internal mail) instead.
