Problem with Java Login from Vista Client Computers

Postby DrWho » Jul 08 08 1:41 pm

I'm seeing an unusual problem with Java user authentication from the only two Vista computers on my network. After entering password (user name is assumed and already filled in), the login times out at the challenge phase with an error. Simply clicking the login button (which becomes active again) results in an immediate successful login. Gatekeeper reports 'WG Login. No reponse from client to challenge.'

Is there a way to prevent the need for the double login attempts?

I imagine the Windows Firewall could do this. Vista's network security is a real nuisance to work with.
Check the Windows Firewall logs for any traffic being blocked, with a source port of TCP 809.
Try disabling the Windows Firewall temporarily to see if the Java client can start authenticating on the first try.

Thanks for the suggestion. Before I had the chance to check it out, both Vista computers have started logging in successfully on the first try after a couple days on not being able to do so.
