Bandwidth control for windows updates

is it possible to implement a restriction in a way that the bandwidth for a specific domain is limited eg. windows update servers from MS?

If you know the IP addresses of the domain, then yes, it is possible by creating multiple rules sharing same restriction.

would be great if I could use dns names like *.update.microsoft.com. I assume that this is not possible?

Problem with DNS names is that if there need to be a DNS resolver at the driver level - which is cumbersome (even though possible).
