Dear Qbik Team, I'm using broadband (shared) internet over cable connection with a small LAN of 4 computers. All of them are on XP (Professional) even the Master Server. LAN is working fine, but one of my worstation user is somewhat very keen to use paging facilities like MSN, ICQ, PalTalk etc etc. This causes great deal of decrease in BandWidth. When I want to use MSN Voice Conversation or Data upload, he/she is always making my life miserable.
Kindly help me out over here and let me know whether I can use WinGate in XP (Professional) and stop his paging facilities whenever I've to upload/download data. Can WinGate will work in this case ? If not, why ?

Hi,
It sounds like you need the bandwidth throttling that's coming soon!
You can stop him from using these types of programmes altogether if that is what you want to do. If you're using WGIC then you can for example set MSN Messenger to be a local application and he won't be able to use it, or if you're using the version 6 beta you can block it as an application from the server.
Otherwise you can set policies to stop his access to the servers that messengers have to connect to. For more information regarding this see this great post....
