One tip is to check the adaptor usage in the Network tab, as External and Internal.
Drop back and someone will take it further. :)

hi
thanks for your reply Nev.
I read that the wingate does not allow ping replies from the internet. So is this why the configured gmail account on MS outlook does not work ? following are the settings
In the system tab of Wingate
POP Server
port : 110 ( allow POP3 proxing is unchecked)
Binding : Bind only to 192.168.1.2 on LAN External
Sessions : Set at Default
Policies : Everyone
SMTP Server
Port : 25
Binding : Bind only to 192.168.1.2 LAN External
Gateways : 192.168.1.1
Sessions : Set at Default
Policies : Everyone
In the services Tab
POP3 Server
Port : 110
Binding : Bind only to 192.168.1.254 on LAN Internal
Gateways : LAN External 192.168.1.1
Sessions : Set at Default
Policies : Granted to everyone
SMTP Server
Port : 25
Binding : Binding to only 192.168.1.2 on LAN External 587
incoming Mail : Set at Default
Aliaces : Set at Default
Policies : Granted to everyone
Settings on the MS outlook Express
User Name : name
Email Address : My address
Incoming Mail Server : POP.gmail.com
Outgoing Mail Server : SMTP.gmail.com
User Name : email address
Password : *******
MORE SETTINGS
Advanced TAB
POP3 : 995 (SSL checked)
SMTP : 587 (encrypted Connection TLS)
When writing this thread the outlook express did not connecto to wingate via POP3 or SMTP. Welll now suprisingly everything works perfectly, but when i send a mail from gmail account ( configured in the MD outlook) a copy of the same mail comes to gmail account. How can i prevent that ?

now nothing seems to be working. Basically i don't want the mails to be monitored by Wingate just pass all mail traffic.

If you are using NAT the easiest thing to do is to disable all of WinGate's mail servers and configure the clients to connect directly to the remote mail server to send and receive mail.
There is a mail config guide available which you might want to take a look at, in particular part 2 of Scenario 3 on Page 58.
