POP3 setting

Dear all

I haveing trouble to configuring pop3 server to download gmail mails. I have tried every options and old post but i m not able to do it. i m using wingate 6.6.4 and no domain ...please guide me step by step..

In WinGate 7 this is now handled by the POP3 Collection service (Rather then via the POP3 Server). It can be installed from the Collection tab located at Monitoring > Email in the WinGate Management console.
Once it is installed, you can configure individual accounts that it should collect mail from just like in WinGate 6. The retrieved mail can then be delivered by WinGate to local mail boxes or a remote location if required. The settings for collection accounts are extremely similar to the Collection properties in WinGate 6.

Of course if clients want to collect mail themselves from a remote location, they can do this through NAT, POP3 Proxy.

I dont want to use wingate pop or smtp services i want user direct connect to pop.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com to get his mail on outlook.

If you are using NAT then make sure the mail servers are disabled (or not installed as is the default in WinGate 7) and you can configure your client to connect directly to the remote mail servers.

What have you done so far? I am assuming you have installed Wingate 7.

NAT basically requires that your users can reslove DNS and that they have their default gateway set to the IP of the WInGate server. If you are using WinGate for DNS and DHCP then it will handle it automatically. You laso will have needed to select the WinGate Network Driver. We have an install video that covers setting up WinGate and getting clients connected using NAT(as well as other things) you can view it here:

I have tried every possible way to connect to pop.gmail and smtp.gmail from my win gate connected local system but i could not . i am not able to ping gmail also.

Hi

There are basically 3 things that need to be working in order to use NAT.

1. DNS must be working on client computers.

If you go to command line, type say "ping www.wingate.com" then if it says attempting to ping 210.55.214.36 etc then it's working. If you get a message saying it can't resolve the host, then you know DNS isn't working. You may need to add the DNS service to WinGate.

2. Client computers need to set their default gateway settings to WinGate's IP.

If you're using WinGate's DHCP service and DHCP on your LAN, then WinGate will by default set this for you

3. WinGate computer needs to be able to access the internet.

If all is working, you should be able to ping sites on the internet, keep in mind not all sites respond to ping. Tracert.exe is often more informative

Thank you very much for your help sir, but my office users wants to use outlook for accessing gmail ( for mail backup purpose ). I am enable to connect their system to outlook. I had given wingate server ip address to smtp and pop3 server address as suggested by fellow member but nothing happening.

You shouldn't have any problems with this, did you follow Adrien's advice in regards to NAT? Are your clients now able to resolve DNS e.g are they able to ping say www.wingate.com?

Sorry sir for bothering You again and again. because i am not that technically sound.
1. I have not configure any email server on win gate 7 and i could not find any disable option in win gate 7
2. I have tried connect client directly to pop and smtp but it couldn't connect.
3. I have dns installed so if i ping http://www.wingate.com , its resolving wingate site ip . it means dns is working.
4. coming to NAT i i have 2 NIC in my server (windows server 2008 Std Edition) Internal is 10.*.*.* and external is 115.*.*.*(ISP Ip address)
5. Client are connected through Internet explorer proxy setting where i define internal ip (10.*.*) and port 80.
6. i have tried giving default gate way IP to win gate IP but nothing happening. (10.2.*.*)
7 I am using domain user data base where some users having full access of internet and some user limited.

Every thing is working fine i have 25 users who are connect internet through Win gate.
Expect this option.
