Painfully Sloooooow!

Oct 03 03 2:26 pm

Hi,

Is it just me, or has this site become extremely slow (Oct. 2)? Like almost a minute - on a broadband connection - to load this page so I could comment about it. No other sites seem to be this slow. Just wondering.

Not "1 minute" slow but definately slow here too.

Time to trade in that 486 web server. : )

What?

You have a perfectly good boat anchor languishing?

Tie a rope to it and throw it overboard!

we were doing a mean SQL query on it before which ground it to a halt... is it ok now?

Still 30+ seconds to open the reply screen here.

we just put the download for WinGate to an off-site server... should be a lot better soon.

Adrien,

It's even worse today (Oct. 3) 10:00 hrs (GMT-6). Almost two minutes.

Hmmm, I only changed our link - I will check that noone is linked to our download files directly - it is possible!

Adrien,

Much better now, but IMHO still could be faster. There seems to be a delay (about 20 secs) after sending request before the "page loading" box comes up. Once I see that, things zip along merrily.

We will be able to speed things up somewhat in the template area soon. Currently the styles are inline (this is the board default), and we will make them linked.
Apart from that, its possible that the gzip isn't opperating correctly. We will work on it.
