Mail Delivery error

Aug 29 06 2:41 pm

Can anyone hazard a guess as to what's going on here?
This is internal emails between users inside our network.

Using Wingate 5.2.2 for a LONG time now (IP=192.168.0.230) ... no updates to Wingate and NO updates to the internal system (192.168.0.2) in YEARS ......

Yet all of a sudden, we start getting the following delivery errors:

* Beginning processing of domain 192.168.0.2
* Attempting connection to 192.168.0.2<= 220 ESMTP spoken here
succeeded
=> HELO proxy1.ourdomain.com
<= 250 ourdomain.com Hello proxy1.ourdomain.com
[192.168.0.230], pleased to meet you
=> MAIL FROM:<jerry@ourdomain.com>
<= 354 Enter mail, end with "." on a line by itself
=> RCPT TO:<annie@ourdomain.com>
<= 250 PAA28401 Message accepted for delivery
=> RCPT TO:<lori@ourdomain.com>
<= 503 Need MAIL before RCPT
=> DATA
<= 250 <jerry@ourdomain.com>... Sender ok
* Sending File
<= 250 <annie@ourdomain.com>... Recipient ok

That looks like 2 sessions intermingled. You shouldn't be getting a 354 response to the MAIL FROM command.

Can you post again, and leave in the session IDs?

Will do
What you saw there was a copy of the email error message as is, not the log file entires. I've enabled logging this morning and they'll get the error again and I'll see if I can cut & paste that part of the log.

Something that may be relevent: In that mail ... Annie was the recipient, Lori was a CC: to that mail (and Lori DID receive the mail)
