Internet explorer and Netscape both loading very slowly.

Greetings, my IE and Netscape are both loading super slow. I feel that somthing may have changed in the setup of Wingate and since I had the horrible loop problem with DNS. I have rechecked my settings in IE and they appear to be the same as before. I was wondering are there any talored settings that would allow the system to work faster as apposed to letting it search each time. My client pc loads much faster than my host and my host pc is a much faster pc. Thanks and look forward to the replys.

Hi,
When you said loading, did you refer to the actual startup time or time required to load a page?

LOL I ask questions and get questions on my questions, page load time, my browsers both open fine its doing anything else other than sitting here on my hands that seems to be the problem. I have had to delete Wingate again, Its now running the cpu at 100% again, so I will try a couple more times then I will be deleting Wingate and asking for a refund of the difference between when I paid and now. I really dont have the time to spend troubleshooting some conflict with another software that should be already identified. oh well guess its time to by a router.

Hi

If you'd like one of our tech guys to have a look at your settings on that machine for you, if you have XP on that machine and can enable remote desktop / remote assistance, that may be the quickest way to solve any configuration issues.

In the end it's often quicker for us to solve problems that way as well, and save you the cost of a router.

If you're into this, submit a support ticket to support@wingate.com, with remote desktop (or VNC if you prefer) details and we can check it out for you.

Adrien

Sounds like a plan.

I have used the remote access before but it has been quite some time, if you could let me know what I need to do as far as configuration and a time to get with you guys. After a good nites sleep I am not near as irritated as I was this am, tried to play two games but lagged out in both. Sighhhhhhh, look forward to your reply.

VNC can be downloaded from www.realvnc.com and needs TCP Port 5900 open from your firewall to the WinGate server; the WinGate server will also need TCP Port 5900 setup as well (image shown below).

Alternatively, Remote Desktop can be setup on Windows XP and is configured via (Windows) Control Panel --> System --> Remote --> Remote Desktop; it will need TCP Port 3389 open.

*We prefer using Remote Desktop.
