Evaluating Wingate: Configuration Query

Hi all.

We are currently evaluating Wingate 6.1.4.

So far, I have successfully deployed it in our LAN.

But there are some issues I can't resolve or, I dont know if possible under wingate.

Here's our current scenario.

Windows 2000 Server (Standard on all servers).
Using Active Directory

Parent domain with 2 child domains.

Parent IP range: 192.0.4.x
Child A IP range: 192.0.3.x
Child B IP range: 192.0.2.x

Following the installation procedures from the manual, browsing was no problem from the parent domain.

But the child domains won't browse.

Help!

LAN Browsing.

The child domains are connected to the parent domain over a frame relay.

those subnets are on public IP addresses. Does this mean that WinGate has an interface with an address in one of these IP ranges? If so, it will by default consider the interface to be an external one, and firewall all traffic.

Do you see lots of hits in the firewall panel in GateKeeper?

based from the literature am reading on how to configure a wingate server and a dedicated internet connection is to have 2 LAN cards.

1 LAN card for your LAN and another one with the IP address from your ISP.

I am configuring this server from the parent domain and hence have a LAN IP of 192.0.4.x

And no, I didnt see any hits in the firewall panel of the gatekeeper.

I only went through as far as installing wingate and only the stations from the parent domain can browse by defining a proxy address in their browser settings.

Can you point me to a diagram/documentation similar to my case?

If your LAN adapter has an IP of 192.0.4.x, can your other subnets access this server even without WinGate installed?

That IP address is defined as a public address (reserved for use on the internet). So WinGate will consider that interface to be external. You will need to override this.

go into GateKeeper, click on the network tab. Double click on the adapter, and select "an internal trusted network", then hit OK.
