How to find anything in History??

Jul 13 08 7:04 am

I've had a need to locate entires in the History for IP Address or Activity.

So I tried using the History Settings under Gatekeeper.

Neither of IP Address or Activity show up under the simple filter types.

So I thought I'd try free form.

That was also hopeless.

I couldn't tell how to force case sensitivity or not, wild cards or not etc.

So all my searches turn up blank.

Ok so I thought I'd load the history file into some kind of editor and search it. I was able to do that after stopping the Wingate Engine first and opening into Wordpad.

Is there a better way of searching and getting at the History information?

Thanks - Al

Hi,

Not sure if this helps, but you can 'right click' the History pane in GateKeeper to save the history as plain text, there will be a snapshot of the last few hours.

Or, if a specific service is needing monitoring you can enable logging, here is a snippet from a POP3 Proxy log:

01/13/08 18:27:00 127.0.0.1 Guest 0000000005 Traffic 20 0 0 0 0s
01/13/08 18:27:00 127.0.0.1 Guest 0000000007 Failed authorisation: POP3:
01/13/08 18:27:00 127.0.0.1 Guest 0000000007 Traffic 20 0 0 0 0s

Logfiles are located under the Wingate directory.
