Clean install and "connection with wingate server terminated

Postby actiefnet » Jan 28 12 11:43 pm

Hi there, we tried to install wingate (for vpn use) on 2 machines. First on 2008r2 and secondly on sbs 2010.

Both resulted in this message. Could not get management console to work. Used latest version (7.0.8.3364) and disabled windows firewall.

On one machihjne we were able to try version 6.x, which worked ok. Other server (where it's to be used) is not possible to fool around since it's operational at (remote) customer location.

Anyone can help us out? Because it's happening on 2 different machines (on one version 6 is working ok) it does not seem to be a machine or windows misconfig issue.

best regards

Edwin

Hi

I've seen recently that some things want to run on the same port as WinGate remote control service.

If you have WinGate stopped, and from command line type

netstat -ano then look and see what is listening on port 808 (it should give you the PID). You can then either stop that service, or you may need to get WinGate to use a different port. That requires editing the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node\Qbik Software\WinGate\Services\Remote Control Service value is called PortNumber

If you change that, start WinGate, then when it asks you to connect with WinGate management, you need to specify the port, such as localhost:xxxx
