I must have something setup wrong... we keep getting relaying errors.
Here is our setup:
Wingate 5 server with two network cards, one local, one internet.
Wingate is running it's built in Email Server.
12 users running Outlook with POP3/SMTP services
Sending mail from the LAN side is fine.
Sending mail from the Internet side occasionally has problems. We sometimes get the "Incoming mail relay attempt blocked. Mail from MYUSER@MYDOMAIN.CA to someuser@somedomain.com denied".
Since they are logging in through the smtp server and using their name and password, why would Wingate consider this as relaying?
I did notice the error message indicates the user as GUEST, which leads to an authentication problem... however...when I look at the Activity tab, it clearly shows the remote user as authenticated as themselves from some internet IP...
Should the mail server assume the user is authenticated if they logged into the smtp server with a Wingate Username/password and not cause relaying problems?
I assume its just my setup and I've missed something obvious.
Thanks
Tim
