Logs displaying the user name

Postby D4U » Jul 12 07 7:11 am

Hi,
Installed Wingate in Domain i.e my user database authenticated from the Win 2000 domain. Configured WWW proxy service and all clients are enabled for the proxy in the IE browser. The Activity tab in the gatekeeper and all the logs shows the GUEST, Hostname or an IP address of a user who is browsing but doesn/t display the user name.
how can i get the logs or the activity of the users by their actual account names.

Regards

I believe you would just need to setup the WWW Proxy for NTLM and then set an authentication policy.

WWW Proxy Server --> General --> Check "NTLM".
WWW Proxy Server --> Policies:
Default Rights = Are ignored.
Add --> Everyone, User must be authenticated.

Let the forum know how you get on.

Postby D4U » Jul 16 07 11:20 pm

Hi,
I have done as per above but the all the clients with IE7 pops up with username and password but clients with IE6Sp1 don't have this problem, what needs to be done may be in IE7

I would presume you just need to setup Internet Explorer to automatically logon instead of prompting the user.

Internet Explorer --> Tools menu --> Internet Options --> Secuirty --> Custom Level: Scroll to bottom where the Authentication section is.

*I believe there is also an option for "Intergrated Windows Authentication" in the advanced tab - I don't use IE7 and do not have a box to test with at the moment.
