Wingate client

Postby defiantclass1 » Aug 24 04 4:07 am

I have a computer which does not recognize the wingate server when I install the client.

It can connect to that machine via Network Places, mapped drive, etc. Any idea why?

Thanks you

Hi

the way the WinGate client finds a Winsock Redirector Server is through GDP. This uses the GDP service in WinGate to respond to broadcast requests made by the client machines.

If the broadcasts are being blocked by the client (i.e. is there a firewall on the client, or XP SP2), or if the client is on a different subnetwork than the WinGate machine, then this discovery mechanism will not work.

In such cases, you can manually specify the server and port to use for the client.

Regards
