Using different www, ftp and smtp server

Postby andyd34 » Jul 07 08 12:55 pm

I have downloaded the trial version of WinGate mainly to evaluate it prior to purchase. The reason for the download was to bond ISP connections to increase bandwidth so I could run my own server locally.

I wanted to use a WAMP based server(Windows, Apache2, MySQL & PHP) but am having trouble configuring WinGate to allow me to do this.

Is it possible or am I wasting my time

If you want to run the AMP on the same windows server as WinGate, you will need to change the service port for WinGate's WWW Proxy Server, as it uses the same port as Apache by default.

- Gatekeeper -> Services -> WWW Proxy Server -> General -> Change the service port to something else (the most common alternative is 8080)

You will also need to open up port 80 in WinGate's firewall so that Internet users can access the AMP server.

Here is a knowledgebase article on opening up ports in the firewall:

Hi and thanks for your quick reply

I did what you said, I have deleted the default web server as I wont be using it and I also opened up port 80 but you are getting a Forbidden error when you try and access my website

It sounds like the WWW Proxy Server is still listening on port 80 and picking up the HTTP requests from the Internet, rather than your WAMP server? Did you change the proxies port to the alternative port (8080) so that it can't interfere with the WAMP server?
