Help.....Wingate dead....

Postby ngrayson » May 17 10 1:29 am

Guys,

Wingate has been running for years with no real problems. Every night the machine shutsdown (windows sheduled task) and restarts the next day.

Every Sunday morning I have a windows scheduled task which stops wingate from the command lines and deletes all of the logs (to save space) and then restarts. Its being doing this for years.

Today for some inexplicable reason, Its done it and wingate wont restart properly. What happens is that the engine appears to start but the task then consummes most of the CPU and eventually fails. It generates no logs at all so its failing before logging starts.

1) Has this been seen before and if so any clues.
2) Is it possible ti disable KAV by changing a registry entry just in case its that?

Cheers

Now resolved.

It seems that the newly created history file was corrupted somehow.

Suspect duff disk please ignore this posting.

you might be pleased to learn that WinGate 7 cleans up old files, and no longer has the history database (in the form it's been in since WinGate 3).

Even with a corrupt history file, WinGate should not be prevented from starting. I'm wondering if you do have a dodgy disk.

cheers
