Ban List not working for me

Postby Andyt3e » Aug 25 10 2:21 am

Hi,

I have been trying to make a blacklist of site that my company can not access. To do this I have been using the guide here http://support.qbik.com/index.php?_m=kn ... nav=0,2,15

And so far have no luck I tried a simply test to block pornhub.com, I set it so the group Everyone was affected by clicked apply and save changes refreshed a client end pc and tried to access http://www.pornhub.com and was able to which shouldnt be the case.

I then tried it for group Guests and same thing the block never happened.

Please Help I have long list of sites that our company wants blacklisting and at this time nothing I am trying to do is working for me.

Kind Regards

Andyt3e

***EDIT*****

I have also noticed that when setting a time to block internet access if I put in the time 19:00 start and 07:00 end block,so now I have had to set it up so that every hour is listed from 19:00 - 07:00 to block internet access during these times.

Is there a better way to do this?

Are your clients configured to proxy through WinGate or are you using NAT? If you are using NAT are you intercepting port 80 into the WWW Proxy?
Since you are only creating a ban list you can simply use the banlist tab of the policy you created rather than advanced policies.

There are a couple of other things you can check:

- make sure there are no other policies that could be providing access
- if you are creating www proxy policies then make sure system policies are set to 'are ignored' or must also be granted.

If you continue to have problems you can create a support ticket and send through your configuration, we will then be able to tell you pretty quickly exactly what is going wrong.

http://support.qbik.com/index.php?_m=tickets&_a=submit

Please attach the following:

1. WinGate Registry
GateKeeper --> Options menu --> Advanced --> Save Registry

2. WinGate Config Report
GateKeeper --> Options menu --> Advanced --> Save Config Report

3. ipconfig/all from one LAN Client
(Windows) Start menu --> Run --> cmd --> ipconfig/all >> C:\ipa-client.txt

4. ipconfig/all from the WinGate Server
(Windows) Start menu --> Run --> cmd --> ipconfig/all >> C:\ipa-server.txt

Hi,

I already have an open support ticket and have already given my data to a Jason Ticket ID: WNH-614461 All my setting are the same as what I sent youguys before nothing has changed.

I did manage to get the Internet blocked for some users last night but as of yet the block list is still not working o matter what I put in to it.

Kind regards

Hi Andy

overall policy is controlled by the combination of all the policies for a proxy and potentially all the system policies (if you include those as well).

So, if you have several policies in there (several recipients), and you ban something in one, it may be granted by another, and therefore not be banned. You'll need to make sure you don't have a setting in there that is additionally granting rights which bypasses the one you are editing the banlist of.

Hi,

I got it working at last :)

But is there away to import aload of sites to be blacklisted or does it have to be done one at a time and per porfile ??
