ICQ and Wingate

Postby edtude » Oct 03 05 3:50 pm

I have two broadband connections and am always connected to the internet. That being said I always leave my ICQ on and in invisible status. Since I have switched to Wingate my cannection to the ICQ service drops every 5 10 or 15 minutes. After a while the IOCQ servers get tired of me and logging and relogging and tell me to stay away for sometime. How can I keep this connection persistent? And will this same problem occur with the rest of my family and their AIM connections?

Well I tried that, and fortunately for me I found that it did not work, ICQ failed within 5 minutes, and I did make sure that the change actually took affect. What I did find however is that in ICQ and AIM setup you can configure it for multiple different connection methods including using a Firewall and Proxy Server. Since making the configuration changes in my ICQ it has not failed at all. I also now see ICQ using the WWW Proxy server for its updates. Thanks for your help.

Are you using WGIC or proxy configuration?
