SMTP relaying problems

Postby gillydownes » Sep 24 04 7:48 am

We are currently running multiple domains.
Emails are sending from accounts using our main domain but the others are coming up with the error message '550 relaying denied' what may i have done wrong? - Please mail me if you need more info - I am currently very new to this software.

Cheers - gilly

Hi there Gilly

Just quickly

Have you added all the domains that are using the WinGate mail server, (including the main domain.)
These need to be added and configured under the Domains config in the Email setup in GateKeeper.

This is necessary so that WinGate doesnt think of these domains as foreign and think they are trying to relay mail(attempting to use the delivery service of the Mailserver).

You can read more on WinGate mail (whitepaper) here on our website:
http://www.wingate.com/resources.php

Hope this helps

Regards

SMTP errors still

Postby gillydownes » Sep 24 04 9:52 pm

Thanks for the quick reply,

I read the white paper on setting up the email and have a better understanding now but still an error occurs when sending from our second domain email addresses.
I am trying to setup the wingate to act as an smtp server (not our ISP) but not as a pop3 server - so we still connect straight to the server that holds our mail to download it in outlook but the SMTP server is set as the firewall (running wingate).
we use 2 email addresses in the company numberone.com and numbertwo.co.uk.
I have setup each domain in the mail server setup in gatekeeper, wingate will send mail from one but blocks the other with the error message "This message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server" ' 550 relaying denied'.

Is what I am trying to do possible?

Hope you can help again

Hi

Are you sure this is not the response from the server you are trying to send to, rather than WinGate itself?

In the bounce message, there should be a message transcript.. what does that look like? can you post part of it here?
