Can't connect !!! Non private address allocation denied

Postby BigAL » May 07 05 5:36 am

Please help,

I keep getting the message 'client, Sales1 - denied access Non private address allocation denied' and my browser on my client will not connect to the the net. I have checked all the settings in my browser ie : I have checked as follows....

'If the WGIC client is using IE for a browser: If you access the connections tab you should set the connection to “never dial a connection” and check the “use Lan settings” configuration. You should make sure that there are no details entered under this option and ensure the “Use proxy” option is not selected.....etc...etc

What's going wrong ...please help me !!

It sounds as if your local network is not using a private IP range. If you do want to use a public range, you need to check the box on the general page of DHCP to allow the alocation of non-private addresses.

If you double-click on DHCP service, the first page on the list of pages (on the left) is "General" - There si a checkbox "Allow allocation of non-private addresses" which Pascal referred to - you need to tick it.

STILL CAN'T CONNECT !! VERY FRUSTRATED !!!!

Postby BigAL » May 09 05 8:55 pm

Hi There,

I have enabled the allocation of non private addresses, so no more error messages of that nature. My Lan is alive and kicking, on the client ( laptop) the applett can see the server along with the IP address.

When I try to launch IE or my Firefox browsers....no dice. I have made sure that my internet connection on the server is NOT shared and the browser settings are set for 'never dial a connection and proxy settings have my Wingate server's IP address. I have tried both the default port of 80 ( as suggested in previous postings on other pages ) as well as the port mentioned on the client applett on my Wingate client of 2080.

What else do I need to check ? Please help !!
