Hi,
heres the setup!
We have our existing network running Windows 98 with internet access running fine through a router and also DHCP. Later this year we are upgrading to XP and have got the new server already setup with its own ip range, DHCP etc and 2 stations running on their own hub as a mini trial network. I want to use wingate to bridge the two networks together so the trial network can have internet access. I have installed 2 network cards in a station - one connected to the main network and 1 the trial network (both picking up their IPs from the respective DHCP server). Internet access runs fine through wingate from the main network, but when accessing from the trial network the requests just appear in Gatekeeper as the station IP address and the detail just as
http://. The client receives no data.
How should I setup Wingate / my network so that the trial network can access the internet?
Thanks,
Matthew

Hi Matthew
In this scenario that you have described, the two NICs you have installed in the WinGate machine should have statically assigned private IPs that corrspond to the appropriate LAN subnet they are connected to. (eg. 192.168.4.1 , 192.168.5.1)
In order for clients on either subnet to reach the Internet, they will need to have their DNS and Gateway entries in their network properties set to the IP of the corresponding NIC in the WinGate machine that they connect to. This way their Internet requests will be forwarded to WinGate.
You should also ensure that you have "Support for multiple subnetworks(Router)" enabled in on the General tab of the ENS config in GateKeeper.

The problem is still the same.
The main network NIC is
IP: 10.73.32.105
Subnet: 255.255.252.0
Gateway: 10.73.32.1
DNS: 212.219.82.4
and the proxy server in internet explorer is set to proxy.lancsngfl.ac.uk. This is the network connection that has the router and internet access on it.
The NIC for the trial network is
IP: 192.168.1.4
Subnet: 255.255.252.0
I have left the gateway and DNS blank.
Then I have got a WWW Proxy Service set up to use a cascaded proxy server - proxy.lancsngfl.ac.uk.
All the machines on the main network can access the internet when the gateway, DNS and proxy server is set as 10.73.32.105. But on the trial network when i set the DNS, gateway and proxy server as 192.168.1.4 the requests just appear in gatekeeper as http://
Any more ideas
