WinGate + WiFi USB + iPod Touch + WinXP Pro

Oct 15 08 12:01 am

I have the following problem:
iPod Touch can't browse the Internet, when set to use WinGate 6.2.2 proxy running on WinXP Pro.
It used to work fine a month ago, don't know what exactly changed.
The problem: When I try to open a web site in Safari on the iPod Touch, I get an empty request in WinGate Engine Monitor.
It looks like this: Date/time ||| IP address of iPod Touch ||| Guest ||| IP address again ||| N/A ||| http:// ||| 0 sec ||| 0 bytes in ||| 0 bytes out.
As you can see, the there is nothing after http://.

The proxy is working because I can access the Internet on another WinXP PC in the same network.
Also, the iPod Internet browseing works fine when I try the same with WinGate under Windows Vista instead of WinXP.

The iPod Touch is connected via Ad-Hoc WiFi to the PC, with a ZyXEL USB WiFi dongle.

Thanks for any help!

Are you potentially requiring authentication in your WWW Proxy?

No, it is restricted by location (IP address) only.
It works fine when I try to access the proxy from another WinXP Pro PC. It doesn't work with the iPod Touch though.
It used to work on the same WinXP PC with Access Point mode. Now Access Point mode won't work, so I'm using Station mode with Ad-hoc.

It works just fine with Station mode with Ad-hoc under Vista, so I wonder why it won't under WinXP...
