Do you get any error messages when you have it configured and attempt to do a send/receive from Outlook XP ?

Do you see anything in GateKeeper when you are attempting to make that connection ?

No i don't see anything, because i don't know how config it on outlookxp going through the proxy server.
I mean, I know how to config the common pop3 server, filling the pop3 server with proxy server's ip address, and fill the user name with user+#+real pop3 server . but the interface is different when i config the hotmail account, there's no place that I can fill in. I think this is a different way to config it between common pop3 account and hotmail account.

I don't have Outlook XP installed on this machine, but I believe it should treat those connections as HTTP connections using your current Internet settings. From your responses, it doesn't sound as if that is happening however. Let me get a hotmail account and set this up, then I'll get back to you.

That proved to be the case. I opened Internet Options from Control Panel and configured the machine to use a WinGate Server as it's proxy on port 80. The client machine was running XP Home + SP2. I configured a connection to Hotmail, and sending and receiving through it was no problem. (Sent myself an email and replied back to it from the hotmail account)

On the WinGate side, I was able to see the URL's it went through as it worked with Hotmail. (http://bay23.oe.hotmail.com/cgi-bin/hmdata/ ... )

Do you have your proxies on different ports or perhaps some authentication policy on your proxy ?
