Microsoft VPN

Postby mhaines-mbc » Sep 02 04 4:07 am

We are currently using Microsoft VPN. I would like to know how to set this up using Wingate. We are running version 6.0.1. I have opened the ports that Microsoft says to use (1723 and 47) and it tries to authenticate, but then times out. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Hi there

When you opened the ports in the firewall, did you set the "redirect packet" option on each port setup (Half way down the port security configuration screen) to the internal IP address of the LAN machine hosting the MS VPN.?

This is required so when Remote users are connecting into the MS VPN behind WinGate, so that all of the VPN data is sent straight to the LAN MsVPN machine.

You can also check the firewall tab to make sure these ports aren't being blocked.

If users are connecting out from the LAN through WinGate to a Remote MS VPN then WinGate should open these ports automatically for the VPN session.

Let us know how you get on

Regards

Marvin,

Are you trying to connect from your network out to a PPTP server or from the Internet in?

Rob should know these answers! :)

Larry,

We are trying to come in from the outside world. We want Wingate to redirect to our VPN server which is located inside the network.

1. Make sure the ports are mapped to the RRAS server.

2. Make sure there are no time outs set for the ports.
