Did you change policies at all? From the sound of it you do not have any right to make changes in GateKeeper.
If you're logging in as a different user now, the easiest option might simply be to log in as Administrator. Alternatively, we can go through the required registry edits to change the system / RCS policies.
If you're comfortable editing the registry, read the following instructions on how to create the Remote Control Service (What Gatekeeper connects to). Note, you should have a backup / system restore point so you can recover from the registry changes.
First, stop the WinGate Engine.
Then, open "regedit" and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Qbik Software\WinGate\Services\Remote Control Service
Delete that key.
Restart WinGate.
This will re-create the Remote Control Service without any policies applied to it. You should then be able to login, unless your change was made to System Policies. If that's the case, it's a little bit more complicated.
