yahoo messenger keep logging user off and logging back on

Postby Tarkky » Sep 10 04 12:33 am

some of our client use yahoo messenger, and we are using wingate as a proxy server(neither nat nor WGIC). while I configered yahoo messenger using http proxy, it can't even log in. so i use socket ver4 or ver5 to log in, it works but it keep logging me out and back on again periodly during chatting. all the yahoo messenger users have the same problem, but msn messenger users work fine. Can anybody help me fix it?
Thanks

Does the time when it logs you off and you log back in coincide with the session's timeout? (Check Service properties in GateKeeper)

no it doesn't, it randomly log user out, sometime it log user back on immediaterly, some time user must click the log on button.
also, i have another problem is: after a random time period, when user try to access some web sites, it shows up internal 500 error, what i can do is to restart the wingate engine.

Which version of WinGate are you using? Neil's been testing it in the lab, and it exhibited the behavior you explain when the Socks Service has a timeout specified. As soon as we unticked that, Yahoo Messenger stayed active for as long as we left it.

Okay, we were using 6.0.1. We've fixed a number of bugs since 5.2.3, and you can run 6.0.1 with your 5.2.3 license.

How did you have it setup? Is it using the Socks Proxy (And shows as such in GateKeeper?)

If you look at your history, what is the difference in time between the start of the session and the ending thereof?

yes, I'm using socks proxy. I need to wait 2 weeks to upgrade it for some reason. if it still has the problem, i'll post it here.
Thanks
